Soprano Rosie Lomas made her operatic debut at English National Opera as American Suburban Girl in Two Boys by Nico Muhly, returning to ENO to play Maketaten in Philip Glass’s Akhnaten and Lucy and Josh in Philip Glass's The Perfect American, a production which has also taken her to Teatro Real and Opera Queensland. Highlights of the 2023/24 season included Rosie’s debut at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck where she sang the role of Wendy in Peter Pan, described as ‘magnificiently sung and played’.
Last summer, Rosie returned to Longborough Festival, with whom she has a close relationship with, for their production of L’Orfeo where she sang the role of Nymph. Previous roles for Longborough include Waldvogel (cover) Siegfried, Juliette (cover) Die Tote Stadt, Oberto Alcina, Valetto L'incoronazione di Poppea and First Spirit The Magic Flute.
One of Rosie’s frequently requested roles is that of Flora in Turn of the Screw which she has performed at the Spoleto Festival, the Beethoven Festival in Warsaw and also at Opera Holland Park. She should have sung the role for English Touring Opera in the Autumn 2020 tour, but this tour was unfortunately a casualty of the pandemic.
Other roles include First Witch and Second Woman Dido and Aeneas, Cupid Venus and Adonis and Mabel The Pirates of Penzance.
