MENNA CAZEL

Soprano Menna Cazel was a 2023 finalist in the Elizabeth Connell Prize held at Wigmore Hall, London, and in October of that same year she was a finalist in the Mount Fuji Opera Competition in Japan. She won 2nd prize in the Ton und Erklärung des Kulturkreises der Deutschen Wirtschaft competition and has been a semi-finalist in the 37th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Latvia, the 51st International Vocal Competition’s-Hertogenbosch and the Das Lied Competition. 

Recent highlights include Senta The Flying Dutchman with the Landesbühnen Sachsen. She has appeared as Erste Dame/Pamina/Papagena Die Zauberflöte, Berta Il barbiere di Siviglia, Voce del cielo Don Carlo, and in other roles at the Dresden Semperoper.  In addition, she has performed at Oper Leipzig, Hamburg Staatsoper and Oper Köln. 

Concert performances include Faure’s Requiem with the Cardiff Philharmonic Choir; a recital with Eugene Asti at Pontio, Bangor; Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with Brussels Philharmonic; and Mozart’s Requiem with Orchestre National de Bretagne in Rennes, Brittany.  Televised appearances include performing the national anthems of Germany, Slovakia and the Czech Republic at Hockey Open Air/International Friendly matches (ice hockey); with Sir Bryn Terfel on S4C’s St. David’s Day Celebration from St. David’s Hall; and the Spirit of Unity Concert at Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. 

She graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London and subsequently completed her Master’s degree in Operatic Studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig. From 2015-2017, Menna was a member of the Young Artist Programme at the Dresden Semperoper.
