Welsh soprano Meinir Wyn Roberts’ recent highlights include cover First Lady The Magic Flute for Welsh National Opera and her role debut as Magda La Rondine with If Opera, she subsequently covered this role for Opera North. She joined Sir Bryn Terfel as a guest soloist for his 'Songs and Arias' autumn tour of the UK. Other recent engagements include The Milliner Der Rosenkavalier, cover Melissa Amadigi for Garsington Opera and cover Musetta La bohéme for Mid Wales Opera. She was soprano soloist in Mid Wales Opera's Sounds of Summer - Garden Concert and sang the role of Jini on the soundtrack of a new Operatic Welsh Film of the novel Un Nos Ola Leuad for OPRA Cymru with the orchestra of Welsh National Opera. She was also the soprano soloist in Scottish Opera's autumn Opera Highlights Tour.
Other highlights include her role debut as Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Nevill Holt Opera, Donna Elvira Don Giovanni for Opera Cymru and in concert with the Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra, and cover Noémie Cendrillon for Glyndebourne Touring Opera. Television broadcasts include performances on ‘Noson Lawen,’ ‘Heno’ and ‘Dechrau Canu, Dechrau Canmol’ for S4C.
She is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music. Roles as a member of Royal Academy Opera included the title role in Alcina, Donna Elvira Don Giovanni, Minerve Orphee aux enfers and Tina Flight and Polly Peachum Die Dreigroschenoper. Meinir performed in recital at the Wigmore Hall as part of the Royal Academy Song Circle Group.
Prizes and awards include the 2015 International Voice of the Future Competition at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, the W. Towyn Roberts Scholarship, the Osborne Roberts Blue Riband Scholarship and the Violet Mary Lewis Scholarship at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. Whilst at the Royal Northern College of Music, she was a finalist in the prestigious Gold Medal Competition, highly commended in the Frederic Cox Award for Singing and was a recipient of the Elizabeth Harwood Memorial Award and Dame Eva Turner Award.
