Czech conductor, Jiří Habart recently debuted with Slovak Philahrmonic, Sinfonia Varsovia, at the Prague Spring Festival and will conduct Dvorak’s Rusalka at Hungarian State Opera in 24/25.
A prize winner of Kodály Conducting Competition and a finalist of the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition 2023, Jiří has worked with Brno Philharmonic, Janacek Philharmonic, Moravian Philharmonic, Kodaly Philharmonic, Martinu Philharmonic Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra, South Czech Philharmonic amongst others and at the Janáček Brno festival. He previously served as an assistant at the Dvořák and Litomyšl international festivals.
Jiří also conducts at the National Moravian-Silesan Theatre in Ostrava where he will soon conduct La Traviata and Nabucco and at the National Theatre in Brno where he will conduct Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.
Jiří studied at the Janaček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno – under the guidance of Jakub Klecker and Tomáš Hanus, before going to become a recipient of the Bayreuther Festspiele scholarship. He has also been mentored by Tomáš Netopil, Kirk Trevor, Zsolt Nagy, and Mark Stringer. Prior to conducting, Jiří studied violin at the Conservatory of P. J. Vejvanovský in Kroměříž and baroque violin under the guidance of Lenka Torgersen from Collegium Marianum.
