ANNA GENIUSHENE AND LUKAS GENIUŠAS

“But these two exceptional soloists, both laureates of prestigious competitions, ensure that their individuality never overshadows the whole…Such mastery places this new duo alongside legendary pairings like Argerich and Rabinovich, Ashkenazy and Previn, or Babayan and Trifonov.” Melissa Khong (Diapason)

The piano duo of Anna Geniushene and Lukas Geniušas blends shared heritage, profound emotional connection, and world-class artistry. As acclaimed soloists and a husband-and-wife team, they offer a fresh, intimate voice in the world of piano duos, presenting a unified message with two distinct voices.

The 2025–26 season sees Anna and Lukas performing across the United States, with appearances in Massachusetts, Utah, and Montana, including a recital at the Tippet Rise Art Center and a special concert in Salt Lake City marking the 50th anniversary of the Gina Bachauer Piano Competition. These American performances are especially timely, as their latest album, Hallelujah Junction, pays tribute to American music with works by Gershwin, Stravinsky, Copland, and McPhee. Called “exciting, thrilling, and adventurous” (Rondo) and “sunshine in a cup” (Gramophone), the album was released by Alpha Classics in 2025 to widespread critical acclaim and was honoured with the Diapason d’Or of Summer 2025.

Anna Geniushene made a powerful impression at the 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, earning the silver medal and critical acclaim for her ‘powerhouse sound, forceful musical personality, and sheer virtuosity’ (Musical America). As a soloist, Anna has graced renowned venues such as the Kennedy Center, Wiener Konzerthaus, Tonhalle Zurich, and Elbphilharmonie. She has appeared as a soloist with esteemed orchestras such as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires, and Taipei Symphony Orchestra. Her passion for chamber music brings her regularly to New York with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, while her solo artistry shines in two albums, including her 2025 Alpha Classics debut, Opus 1

Lukas Geniušas, a Russian-Lithuanian pianist, has firmly established himself as a leading artist of his generation. Celebrated for his ‘brilliance and maturity’ (The Guardian), Lukas’s versatile repertoire spans from baroque to contemporary works. He has performed at esteemed venues such as Wigmore Hall, Concergebouw Amsterdam, and the Louvre Auditorium, and has appeared with orchestras such as the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, National de Lyon Orchestra, and Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. A laureate of several prestigious competitions, including the 2015 Tchaikovsky Competition and the 2010 International Chopin Competition, Lukas is also an avid chamber musician and a dedicated advocate for classical music outreach. His acclaimed discography includes recordings of Beethoven, Brahms, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Prokofiev, and others.

Recent highlights of the duo’s career include a distinguished recital at the prestigious La Roque d’Anthéron Festival, acclaimed performances in Munich and Bolzano, as well as notable appearances at the celebrated “Chopin and His Europe” Festival in Warsaw and the Bartolomeo Cristofori International Piano Festival in Padova, Italy, among other leading European stages.
