JAMIE WOOLLARD

Jamie Woollard is a British bass. This season Jamie will sing Angelotti in Oxford International Opera's inaugural production of Tosca alongside Sir Bryn Terfel as Scarpia and make his debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper for Death in Venice. Jamie will also return to the Royal Ballet & Opera to cover Melisso in their production of Alcina and to Glyndebourne to cover Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia. On the concert stage, Jamie will make his debut with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sakari Oramo for Mendelssohn’s Die erste Walpurgisnacht.

Last season saw Jamie return to Glyndebourne as Snug in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Royal Ballet & Opera for Count Ceprano in Rigoletto. He also made his debut at Opera North as Antonio in Le nozze di Figaro, and at The Grange Festival as Colline in La bohéme.

Jamie was a Jette Parker Artist at the Royal Ballet & Opera from 2023-2025. His roles here included Zuniga in Carmen, Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin, Count Ceprano in Rigoletto, Dumas in Andrea Chénier, and Sciarrone in Tosca. Cover roles are Timur (Turandot), King of Egypt (Aida), Colline (La bohème), Orest’s Tutor (Elektra), Angelotti (Tosca), and Zebul (Jephtha).

In Summer 2023, Jamie performed with Glyndebourne Festival Opera as a Jerwood Young Artist, where he covered Snug in Britten's A Midsummer Night’s Dream and played Thierry in Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmélites. Other credits include Apollo & Titye (La descente d'Orphée, Charpentier) for the Vache Baroque Festival; Commendatore (Don Giovanni) for Brunswick Vocal Arts and Waterperry Opera, Saul (Saul, Handel) with Consort of Twelve, and Polyphemus (Acis & Galatea) for Eboracum Baroque. He is a Samling Artist, a BBC Music Magazine ‘Rising Star’ 2023, and was awarded second prize at the Maureen Lehane Vocal Awards 2021. In concert, Jamie has performed as a soloist at Wigmore Hall, St Martin in the Fields, Cadogan Hall with The Mozartists, with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra performing Handel’s Messiah at the Symphony Hall.

Jamie is a graduate of the Royal College of Music Opera Studio; whilst at the RCM, he performed the roles of Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Immigration Officer (Flight, Dove), Il Re in Respighi’s La bella dormente nel bosco, and Jupiter (Orpheus in the Underworld, Offenbach). Prior to his studies at RCM, Jamie graduated from Durham University with a BA in History & Economics.
