British mezzo soprano Heather Lowe brings exceptional physicality and dramatic nuance to her performances. Vocally, she is especially celebrated for her Rossini interpretations, with a voice praised for its “sheer vocal beauty, expressiveness, range and precision”. Her performances of Rosina (Il Barbiere) and Angelina (La Cenerentola) showcase her command of coloratura, comic timing, and “vivacious presence”, making her a standout in the bel canto repertoire.
Highlights this season include a return to the role of Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) for her house debut at the Teatro de la Maestranza, she will also cover Kristina in The Makropulos Affair for the Royal Ballet & Opera. Other future plans include her debut at Grange Park Opera and State Opera South Australia. Heather’s 2024/ 2025 season included Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Opéra de Lausanne, Rosina in Il Barbiere for Teatro Manoel and Bernstein’s A Quiet Place for the Linbury Theatre at the Royal Ballet & Opera.
Other recent engagements include, Dido in Dido and Aeneas and the title role in Orfeo ed Euridice (The Grange Festival), Angelina in La Cenerentola (The Grange Festival and West Green House Opera), Rosina in The Barber of Seville (Opera North, Welsh National Opera and Opera Holland Park)‚ Hansel in Hansel and Gretel and Phoebe in The Yeomen of the Guard (English National Opera), Fox in The Cunning Little Vixen, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro and Sesto in Giulio Cesare (Opera North), Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte (Opera North, Northern Ireland Opera and Dorset Opera)‚ and 2nd Nymph in Rusalka (Garsington Opera and Edinburgh Festival).
