French mezzo-soprano Anne-Lise Polchlopek initially trained as a violinist and completed degrees in literature, languages, and architecture before turning to singing. She began her vocal studies in Paris with Claudine Le Coz, followed by the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon with Mireille Delunsch. Further training included the Fondation Royaumont, the École Normale de Musique de Paris with Véronique Gens, and the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium with José van Dam, Sophie Koch and Stéphane Degout. She was also a member of Opera Fuoco’s Young Artists Program with David Stern and the Lyon Opera Studio with Jean-Paul Fouchécourt.
Highlights of the 2024–25 season include her performances at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège as Glasa and Feklusa in Káťa Kabanová, the title role in The Carmen Case at the Opéra de Limoges, the title role in La Belle Hélène at the Opéra de Toulon, the alto solo in Messiah at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne, and Mère Marie in Dialogues des Carmélites for the Fondation Napoléon. She also gave recitals at the Opéra de Lille and the Fundación Juan March in Madrid. In May 2025, she released her debut solo recording, Gracias a la vida (Outhere Music/Fuga Libera), with Federico Tibone on piano and Pierre Laniau on guitar, praised by Le Monde; the programme will be performed at Salle Cortot in Paris in September 2025. Looking ahead, she will make debuts at the Opéra National du Capitole, Opéra de Rouen, and Opéra d’Avignon, and return to the Opéra National de Bordeaux and Opéra de Saint-Étienne during the 2026 season.
Recent highlights include the title role in Cendrillon at the National Taichung Theatre in Taiwan in a production by Laurent Pelly, and Carmen in The Carmen Case at both the Opéra National de Bordeaux and the Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg under Lucie Leguay. She also made debuts at the Kraków Philharmonic in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and at Bozar Brussels in recital with José van Dam. Earlier roles include Dorabella in Così fan tutte in Luxembourg, the Prince in Cendrillon and Augustine Brémond in Les Enfants du Levant at the Opéra de Lyon, Zulma in L’Italiana in Algeri in Clermont-Ferrand, Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro with Opera Fuoco, Mère Marie in Dialogues des Carmélites in Lyon, Nicklausse in Les Contes d’Hoffmann in Nancy, and appearances at Wigmore Hall, the Oxford Lieder Festival, the Festival Radio France Montpellier, and the Philharmonie de Paris.
Praised for her “velvet tone and great acting” (Ôlyrix) and her “sonorous voice and fiery temperament” (Opéra Magazine), Anne-Lise has been recognised in numerous international competitions, including prizes at Marmande in 2018, the Nadia and Lili Boulanger Competition in 2021, the Orsay-Royaumont Academy in 2022, the Grand Prize at the Toulouse International Singing Competition with Natallia Yeliseyeva in 2023, and the Jury Prize at the International Opera Competition of Canari, Corsica in 2024. She was also awarded a grant from Mécénat Musical Société Générale in 2020–21.
